I applied to the MSOM program because I wanted to seek opportunities in Project/Program Management and this was the best program for that. I wanted to learn more about effective business practices, and what tools were needed to successfully lead business operations. With already having a technical degree, I wanted further education from a program that would teach me not just management skills, but the best analytical tools and methods for effective decision making.
A few thing I enjoyed the most about the program was it being 100% online, while the instructors were all very accessible and prompt when responding to emails regarding classwork. They made all the information easy to find within Blackboard and Dr. Jones held weekly virtual sessions for the three course I took with him (Project Management, Adv. Project Management, and Strategic Management). The classes I enjoyed the most were Project Management, Leadership Principles, and Advanced Decision Support Tools, I enjoyed these the most, because they directly helped better my skills with my current role. The Project Management course was the most beneficial as I was taking the course while transitioning into my current role as Manufacturing Engineer Senior. My task was to work with Work Breakdown Structures and Integrate Master Schedules, and the course gave me in-depth knowledge on how to properly create and support these two tools that I work with every day.
This new knowledge will help elevate me in my current role and has prepared me for new roles I am interested greatly in such as: Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Operations Manager.
