I learned about the MSOM program from a handful of colleagues that had been through it and had recently earned their degrees. After speaking with my local advisor, Ms. Sheila Vaughen, I decided to enroll based on the 100% positive feedback I received from previous students, the university’s reputation, and the program’s outstanding flexibility.
My favorite courses have been Organizing for Change and Leadership Principles. The concepts delivered in these courses tie directly to my job daily and have enabled me to operate much more efficiently as an organizational leader at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels. I enjoyed the MSOM program because it focused on delivering a practitioner vs. purely academic style delivery. All of my professors have had a wealth of industry experience, making them all extremely credible. Faculty members have bent over backward when deployments and unforeseen issues have arisen.
I incorporate the knowledge I have attained as I continue to serve in the Air Force, passing that knowledge to the folks I lead as we strive to improve the organization continuously. When I decide to retire from the military, I plan to pursue a career in Project or Program Management, and I couldn’t do that without the skills I have gained from the University of Arkansas. I highly recommend the MSOM program to anyone looking to further their education!
