Higher education is something that is extremely important to me. I am fortunate that my employer offers tuition reimbursement. When assessing programs, I wanted to find a program that was flexible, affordable and of great quality. It’s not surprise that when you navigate to the University of Arkansas’ MSEM program page, the program is showered with accolades of being one of the best grad programs and online engineering programs.

I decided to transition to a full-time student in the program after my first semester in tandem with my full-time job, I’d like to note it is possible but very demanding. The program is challenging, but the professor’s approach to instruction helps navigate that challenge. I feel that concepts I have been taught throughout my duration in the program can be directly applied in my field such as project management, decision analysis, engineering management concepts and how to navigate pools of different generational workforce, and more. From this program, I’ve been able to obtain my graduate lean six sigma certificate and my certified associate in project management (through PMI).

I have so much gratitude for this program, the faculty and staff, and how it prepares students to deploy their new skillset into the workforce. I wish there was a doctoral program for engineering management offered, because I would be first in line to sign up! Next steps from here are starting my Doctorates in Business Administration with a specialization in Strategy and Innovation and to continue to make an impact as an individual contributor in my role. Because of this degree, I will have an accelerated opportunity to move up within my company. I also have hopes to pivot into a leadership position in the next few years. I have hopes to work in academia in the future, post doctorates.
