I applied to the MSOM program as suggested by my old supervisor. He was also a graduate of the program, and told me that MSOM directly correlates with my specialty in the US Air Force. Simply put, I was already managing different programs and sections – why not get a special certificate or degree? So, I began my MSOM journey in the summer of 2019 determined on earning a degree related to my work. 

The University of Arkansas’ MSOM program is, no doubt, very beneficial to my professional career. I recently retired from the military and have transition into a new role as a program manager for the DoD. The knowledge and skills I gained throughout the program is invaluable. My favorite classes were Strategic Management, Project Management, and Lean Six Sigma. I use the techniques learned in these three courses alone on a daily basis. Having a continuous process improvement “mindset” is highly beneficial at my work.
