“I was planning to get a Master of Public Administration (MPA) to better prepare for a career in public utilities management until I found the MSOM program at the University of Arkansas. A relevant distance program at a reputable university with an affordable rate is a rare gem. I chose the MSOM over an MPA because I believe it has more tangible qualities for public utilities than an MPA could offer. I see the MSOM as the concentrated core somewhere between an MPA and MBA with ubiquitous material for my future.
I most valued learning the many effective strategy tools in business, the project management process, and maintenance program administration. My current goal is to help build an asset management program here at the water district that is focused on reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and becomes invaluable.
