“When I was looking for a program it had to meet a few criteria; online based (I lived in Japan and Singapore during my time in the program and travel for work), relevant to my scope of work (safety, project, change, and quality management are all critical aspects to my job responsibilities), acclaimed program (Uark MSOM is a storied program and industry leader in online education and the University of Arkansas itself has a great history), and value (compared to other programs, Uark is very affordable compared to similar programs and can combine other certificate programs with the degree, such as the Graduate Certificate in Project Management).
My favorite classes were OMGT 5783 – Project Management for Operations Managers and OMGT 5623 – Strategic Management. These classes provide immediate lessons that can be applied during the class. It’s encouraged to use your real work examples which works out really well. This means that what you are doing in class will have immediate value to your day-to-day work; I actually used a (slightly modified) presentation developed in Strategic Management for a management presentation at work that went really well!
In some ways I already received a promotion after I received my Graduate Certificate in Project Management. I went from a contract position with Exyte Group to a permanent position with Schneider Electric. Now that I have received my MSOM, I look forward to applying the knowledge and improving the project and quality processes within the Digital Energy application center of Schneider Electric.”
